IT'S time to put the best foot forward and start running across Ruby Country . . . Saturday, June 8 will see the 2008 annual Ruby Run half-marathon. This year's main event will start in Holsworthy at 10.30am with the finish being 13 miles down the road in Hatherleigh square. Anyone who wishes to run the half-marathon must register by Saturday, May 31. Walkers are also welcome to take part and register for the walking, which will take place from 8am on Saturday, June 8 in Holsworthy. There will also be a team half-marathon event taking place that will start at 10.45am. Each team must consist of six members, five of whom will run two miles and one of whom will run slightly more than three miles. Last year's team event saw a closely fought contest between Hatherleigh Fire Service and the Okehampton Ladies' Hockey Club. Entries for this year's team event need to be in by June 1. Alongside the more serious events there will also be a Fun Run in Hatherleigh, of approximately two miles. This will take place on the same day and registration is at 10am outside Cornwall Farmers beside the square in Hatherleigh. There will be medals for everyone who completes the run. All the money raised from these events will go to support the community centres in Holsworthy and Hatherleigh.
