TO celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday a beacon will be lit on Whitchurch Down on Thursday, April 21.

The event is being organised by Tavistock Town Council together with local girl guides, the Rotary Club of Tavistock, Tavistock Lions and Tavistock Area Support Services (TASS).

Members of the local community who are also celebrating their 90th birthdays in 2016 are being asked to take part, either by helping to light the beacon or by simply attending the event.

The beacon lighting will form an important part of the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations and Her Majesty the Queen has agreed to light the principle beacon on April 21.The beacon will be lit between 8.30pm and 9pm on the area of land between The Pimple and Tavistock Golf Club, approximately 150 metres from the access gate.
