IN three special services this Sunday and Monday, Tavistock Parish Church will remember loved ones who have died.

The services are being held to coincide with 'All Souls' Day' — the day when the church remembers those who have died, and those who are bereaved.

Two of the three services are in the evening, the other is at lunch-time; two are communion services, while one is a service of readings and music.

At all three services, names will be read out of loved ones whom parishioners would like to be remembered.

The 'Lighten our Darkness' service of readings and music will be at 6 pm on Sunday November 2, and will be followed by refreshments.

Then on All Souls' Day itself — Monday November 3 — communion services will be held at 12.30pm, and, followed by refreshments, at 7.30 pm.

The Rev Michael Brierley, priest-in-charge of Tavistock and Gulworthy, said: 'We miss those whom we've lost — not least when the days are shorter, and the time can be lonelier.

'These three services can be especially helpful: the reading of names will remind us that in God, we can never be separated from those we love.'

All are warmly welcome to these services —those who would like names to be read out should give them to one of the clergy before a service begins.

l The preacher at the 9.30am service in St Eustachius Church on Remembrance Sunday, November 9, will be the Rev Tim Treanor, Lt Col Royal Engineers retd.

Service personnel who died in two world wars will be honoured during the service, and those in our armed services now engaged in areas of conflict worldwide and the many wounded will also be remembered,

Following this service members of the congregation will be able to join the town remembrance parade and wreath laying in Bedford Square.
