A TEAM of six cyclists from Lifton joined thousands of others to pedal 100-miles in the Prudential Ride London - Surrey 100.

Jeanette Johnson, Tim Dixon, Jason Shipton, David Marshall and Kevin and Vin Marshall all took part in the ride which started from the Olympic Park in four minute waves with the earliest setting off at 5.45am. The scenic route passed through Richmond Park, Weybridge, Newlands Corner, out to Leith Hill, on to Dorking, up the famous Box Hill, through Kingston-upon-Thames to Wimbledon and finishing on The Mall.

For Jeanette, Jason, David, Tim and Vin, it was their first experience of the event.

Jeanette said: ‘It was a brilliant event and so well organised.’

Vin said she ’loved it’ and had already entered the ballot for next year.

The team raised over £2,145 for Lifton Community Centre funds, which will go towards landscaping the grounds of the centre.
