LIFTON FC have made an urgent appeal for players to join their first team for the coming new season in the East Cornwall division one. With former boss Andy Heard stepping down as manager after 11 years in the post the club has a new manager, Jason Chandler, to begin the campaign. Vice chairman Gavin Monk said: ?We are struggling to get players for our first team after we lost a few players to other clubs. ?We do have a second team and if worst came to worst they could play in the first team and we would to do without our second team. However we don?t want to do that. ?What we our looking for are players of decent standard, who must be aged more than 16. ?We have always been known as a friendly club and any new players would receive a warm welcome.? The club is very much a community club and supports five youth teams; last year it finished an impressive seventh in the East Cornwall division one league. So keen is new manager to take up his post that Jason travels down from his home in Weston-super-Mare in Somerset for all matches and training sessions. Training takes place on Thursday evenings between 6pm and 8pm at Lifton Recreation fields.
