VISITORS to Tavistock Community Hospital's inpatient facilities are being advised that the hospital's lift will be out of action for one week, starting Monday, September 2, while essential upgrades are carried out.
The refurbishment work to the hospital's lift system will mean that for the one-week period access to the ward on the first floor will be via the staircase only.
Mary Barratt, hospital matron, said: 'While we aim to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum, unfortunately due to the physical make-up of the hospital building it is unavoidable that access to wards will be stair access only.
'We apologise for any inconvenience this temporary restriction may cause and would ask visitors and patients to talk to us should they have any concerns.'
Posters are being displayed on site advising members of the public of the temporary lift restrictions.
