POLICE have appealed for witnesses to come forward after a serious collision took place in North Tawton on Monday, January 16, where a man received 'life-changing' injuries.

At around 8.45am emergency services were called to the A3124 near Redpost Cross, North Tawton, after a Peugeot 307 was in collision with a Ford Puma.

The Peugeot, driven by a woman in her twenties, was travelling in a northerly direction on the A3124 while the Ford Puma, driven by a man in his forties, was travelling in the opposite direction.

The male driver of the Ford received serious injuries, which are described as life changing, and was taken by air ambulance to Derriford. The woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The road was closed while investigations took place at the scene and re-opened just before 3pm.

Two crews from North Tawton and Chulmleigh also attended. Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment and small tools to release the casualty, and made the vehicles safe.

Police from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to this incident to contact them on 101 quoting log number 101 of January 13.
