OKEHAMPTON Library will be closed next Monday (February 11) for three days, to allow preparation work to be done ahead of installing new computers.
Cabling and other essential work needs to be done before the computers are installed on February 18, offering faster internet access and upgraded software.
As a result of Government funding for the People's Network, libraries across the country will be offering better access to computers and Devon is no exception.
Okehampton is just one library in the county which is getting an upgrade over the next few months.
The library will be offering up to half an hour's free computer access per person per day, including the use of word processing, office software as well as internet and CD Roms and the ability to download to floppy discs.
But staff say book lovers can rest assured — the technology advancement will not mean fewer books on the shelves.
The library will re-open at the usual time on Thursday, February 14.
