I AM very relieved to read that the idea to glaze the area around the pannier market is not supported by the local councils.
Shopping malls are an old idea, not a new one. They make one town like any other and haven’t worked in traditional market towns like Salisbury.
The integrity of the unique ‘Bedford style’ architecture, the feeling of history and the views would all have been lost.
The centre of Tavistock is too good to transform into a fake Covent Garden – at colossal expense – let alone a Derriford style retail park.
