Carsberg South Western League Tavistock 1 Bodmin Town 1 THE Lambs came bouncing back from the disappointment of defeat against Newquay the previous Saturday to earn a point from the existing champions. Glynn Hobbs went close for Tavistock with Danny O?Hagan doing likewise for the visitors in the early stages. A quickly taken free kick for offside saw O?Hagan turn and strike from the angle of the area to send the ball over Tavistock keeper Andy Meeds after 23 minutes. Two minutes later O?Hagan got into a great position in front of goal for a header, but put his effort over the bar. The Lambs were unlucky not to equalise a minute before the break. Kevin Parker?s fierce shot was palmed out by Jason Chapman. With Ryan Honey following up, Chapman saved Bodmin again to deflect the ball around the post. The Lambs had been equal opponents in the first half apart from the goal and came out for the second with the same purpose. Chapman saved from Hobbs on 50 minutes with Meeds doing similar from Craig Swiggs. Glenn Squires had a great chance to put the visitors two up after 55 minutes but blasted his shot over the bar from 12 metres. Lee Coxon curled in a shot that saw Chapman tip it around the post through a crowd of players. The Lambs were having a good spell and felt they had drawn level with ten minutes left. Parker saw another effort from him palmed out, and John Morris raced in from the penalty spot to steer the ball home. But it was not to be as the referee had his hand up for an infringement. Squires missed another great chance for the visitors and it would have been cruel for the Lambs to concede a second. But they were not to be denied when in the 88th minute from a well driven Chris Menhenick free kick Morris got the touch of the ball into the net to the delight of a large contingent of Tavistock supporters. The Lambs were still not finished, Morris sending James Steer down the right to cut back inside but on his weaker side he could only put the ball into the hands of Chapman. Carlsberg South Western League St Austell 0 Tavistock 4 THE Lambs continued their good form from the midweek draw against Bodmin with this convincing win over the ?Lilywhites? at Poltair. It was the same starting line up and there was an early scare as keeper Andy Meeds went down after an innocuous challenge to receive lengthy treatment from Physio Dave Chanter but he was able to continue. John Morris sent in a 25 screamer after 13 minutes that saw Graham Kimberly palm the ball onto a post before it was cleared with Glynn Hobbs hitting the woodwork after turning sharply in the area from a Steve Daly free kick. Meeds then tipped a shot around the post from a Scott Hill effort. A succession of corners from the home side followed but they could not capitalise befthe Lambs went ahead on 28 minutes. Will Stringer brought the ball out of defence to feed Jimmy Steer out on the right whose chip over the defence put Lee Coxon through to cross for Morris to meet it at the near post to head home giving Kimberly no chance. Morris and Hobbs went close before the break with Billy Allen firing across Meeds? goal. Chances went begging at the start of the second half and Meeds did well to block a Hill effort as he burst through into the area. Further chances fell for the Lambs but with 20 minutes remaining they came into their own and put the game to bed. Lee Ireland sent Kevin Parker down the left and his pace left his marker for dead to cross low for Hobbs to control and blast the ball home from close range. Five minutes later it was all over as a contest with the goal of the game. Daly?s ball down the right channel to Morris saw him back heel the ball into the path of Coxon to come inside and go across the area to send in a shot that had goal written all over it as it left his foot. Parker saw Kimberly tip his effort around a post before the Lambs got their fourth as sub Marc Conday raced onto a flick over the defence to send the ball across goal and inside the post to bring to a satisfactory end to the game for the Lambs.
