I WRITE in support of Mr Wood's letter (November 17), entitled 'Stop the traffic'.

I too was very surprised and disappointed that traffic consisting of several  heavy lorries was allowed to disrupt the Service of Remembrance at the town's war memorial.

I also find it incredible that the police claim they are unable to divert the traffic for a couple of hours on a Sunday morning in Tavistock, particularly when other towns and cities are able to do this for their remembrance services.

So, come on, Tavistock, if we can manage road closures and diversions for much longer periods of time such as Goose Fair, surely we can manage a couple of hours to show the appropriate respect for those who lost their lives in conflicts past and present.
