Ordulph v Launceston FOR the second week on the trot Ordulph?s Bridgewater had the new ball in his hand and again put it to good use. On a hot afternoon, on a track like concrete, he served up a lethal cocktail of pace and speared yorkers to rip into the Launceston top order. Even stubborn resistance from Baker (12) and Lewitt (25) could not put off the inevitable as wickets fell at regular intervals. This excellent spell of 12 overs for 5 wickets was even more remarkable given the batting friendly nature of the wicket. With the top order all removed by Bridgewater, it left Lethbridge (3 for 10 off 5) and Folley (2 for 27 off 11) to account for the middle order and tail. A stubborn stand by S Pengelly (18) held up proceedings for a few overs until Lethbridge?s nagging line and length bowling prevailed. Good catches from Churchill and Bridgewater and good chasing in the field, in particular from Cleave, enabled the Ordulph to restrict Launceston to 91 all out. Mention must also go to the Ordulph keeper Crowl who dealt well with the pace of the ball and took a good catch. Ordulph opened their innings with the old guard of Statton and veteran Pedrick on his debut for the team. Wise heads prevailed as the two rode the initial attack from Pengelly and Lovell, selecting the right ball to put away and defending the others. This patient approach paid dividends as the pair took the Ordulph score along to within two runs of the Launceston total before both fell to Christophers (2 for 4) in one over. This was an excellent knock for Pedrick who fell two short of his half century. Statton (18) can be well pleased with his good support role. The winning runs came with a nice boundary from Bridgewater (5 not out) partnered by Churchill. Ordulph can be well pleased with another maximum points haul which keeps the pressure on top of the table Bude, who are the next visitors to Kelly College in two weeks? time. Man of the match: Ordulph, A Bridgewater; Launceston, S Pengelly.
