A WEST Devon head teacher bid a fond farewell when pupils, parents and staff past and present held a barbecue and presentation recently.

Year six pupils from Exbourne Primary School presented Celia West with a large bouquet of flowers, along with a garden hammock and two prints of Dartmoor scenes.

Chair of Governors, Ian Young also gave a speech.

Mrs West, who has been at the school for 13 years, said: 'I will miss the buzz of the classroom and interacting with such a lovely community .

'I'd like to say many thanks to all the parents, staff and pupils, past and present, who attended.

'It was lovely to hear their happy memories of being at the school.

'I have left the children a mural which is up on the outside walls.

'It was made with the help of a professional potter who worked with the children for a couple of days.'
