LEW Trenchard Primary School pupils were fortunate to enjoy coaching of bike handling skills by a member of the Tavistock Wheelers cycling club. Chair of Tavistock Wheelers Geoff Whitlow passed on his knowledge of bike safety, maintenance checks and riding skills over six sessions. The children enjoyed learning bike handling techniques and their levels of confidence grew as the weeks progressed. Geoff's training programme is part of the system developed by British cycling, the national organisation which co-ordinates most of the club events in the UK. One of its main aims is to support cyclists 'from the playground to the podium'.
