PUPILS at Gulworthy Primary School had a 'bat-tastic' day recently as part of the greater Horseshoe Bat project.

Representatives from Devon Wildlife Trust Helen Parr, Becki Lumbis and Lucy Angus visited the school for the day to teach the children about bats and hedgerows and trees.

The children made their own bats, went on bug hunts, took part in quizzes, completed a tree survey and took photos of bugs using probe cameras and a night-time camera.

Thanks were expressed by the school to Davis Wills, a bat ecological consultant, for installing a bat camera in the school's loft.
