South West Lakes Trust is offering the chance to get hands-on experience, gain new skills and learn the ancient art of coppicing on another of its rural skills courses.

The one-day course will teach visitors the traditional method of managing woodland at Roadford Lake on Sunday, January 24.

Coppicing is where trees and shrubs are cut to ground level to allow vigourous re-growth, and to provide a sustainable supply of timber for future generations.

The course starts at 9am at Roadford Lakeside and costs £10 per person.

Those attending should wear suitable outdoor clothes. The course lasts until 3.30pm so it is advised to take a packed lunch and refreshments.

There are only eight places available, so booking is essential. To book and for more information call 01566 771930.
