PEOPLE interesting in Cornwall?s rich mining history are invited along to a free guided walk around Kit Hill at the weekend. County council countryside rangers will accompany walkers and point out where the medieval stream works were situated to a First World War wolfram mine. The walkers will explore guinnes, leats and past buddies and discover the diversity of East Cornwall?s World Heritage Site. The event has been organised by Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape and the county council as part of ?Celebration Days? staged by the Cornish Mining Attractions Marketing Association. Chrissie Le Marchant, a county council countryside officer, said: ?Not only can we discover what remains on the ground, but on a clear day, the stunning views from the hill mean that we can take in the wider landscape, and see the effect mining has had on the whole of the Tamar Valley.? The walk, on Sunday October 29, will last approximately two and a half hours. Please meet at 10.30am at the Adit Car Park, Kit Hill. Organisers ask that those joining the walk wear appropriate clothing for the weather and footwear should be suitable for rough, uneven, ground. Children are welcome.
