THIS autumn the Tamar Valley AONB team is looking for help to locate and record tawny owls in the area.

A British Trust for Ornithology survey in 1989 provided the baseline data for monitoring the presence of owls. In 2005 a community survey method was put together, to compare with the 1989 results and compare owl numbers in different areas and habitats. The team now wants to update its records and needs the help of the public to do so.

To find out more about owls and how to get involved, join an owl workshop on Wednesday, September 9 at the National Trust’s Cotehele Estate.

There will be a presentation on barn and tawny owls at 5pm, followed by an owl pellet dissection. The evening will end with a walk at dusk to listen for owls.

A free pasty tea will be available and the event will end at around 9.30pm.

Places are limited on this free event. To book, email [email protected]
