TWO leading session musicians will be coming to Devon for a drum clinic show next month, after the efforts of a Boasley Cross couple secured the high profile guests. Lee St Pier and Emma Butcher run Project Music, a guitar and drum store in Exeter, and will be hosting the exciting clinic for aspiring drummers on August 4. The show will feature British ace Andy Edwards and American star Kenny Aronoff. The venue will be the Barnfield Theatre in Exeter, with the show due to get underway at 7.30pm. Both drummers will be playing in their own formidable styles, as well as discussing topics such as drumming technique, being a professional musician, showmanship and practicing as well as answering questions from the audience. Kenny Aronoff has worked with many top rock artists including John Mellencamp, the Smashing Pumpkins, John Fogerty and Bob Seger. With a style of playing that combined power and finesse, Kenny was a poll-winner for five consecutive years in surveys or readers of Modern Drummer Magazine. During the mid-nineties, he was also an associate professor of percussion at Indiana University. This will be the first time Kenny has conducted a clinic tour in the UK for 15 years. Kidderminster-born Andy Edwards began playing the drums when he was eleven years old, influenced by rock bands. Andy later experimented with other styles of music, including jazz, fusion and bhangra. From 1999, Andy spent two years playing in ex-Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant?s band as they toured all over Europe. Andy continued to tour in various groups, before taking a break from the road last year, to set up his own drum school.
