THE outstanding results and teaching quality of Whitchurch Primary School have been highly praised.
Ofsted inspectors said the primary was a very good school, which was excellently led and well supported by parents and the wider community.
In a rare move for Ofsted, the inspectors said they had found no key issues for improvement at all.
Headteacher Angela O?Shea-Warman said: ?I am delighted Ofsted has recognised the outstanding work and commitment of my staff.
?I am very proud to be the head of this wonderful school.?
One of the inspectors said the excellent standard of teaching at the school was a key factor in helping pupils achieve their goals.
?Many reach standards in English, maths and science which are well above average by the time they leave the school,? he said.
?Relationships are excellent and the school?s very strong commitment to the ?whole child? ensures very good personal development.?
Three inspectors spent two days at the school in March. Their report concludes that when children start school at four years old their attainment varies but is usually above average.
However, by the time they take their National Curriculum SATs tests at 11 years old, their results in English, maths and science are well above average and high achievers do very well.
In another rare move for Ofsted, the inspectors rated all their measures for pupils? aptitudes and values as very good.
They said pupils enjoyed school and were keen and interested and their behaviour in and out of the classroom was very good.
Pupils took responsibility, showed maturity, and the quality of relationships was excellent throughout. Attendance was well above the national average.
The school was also praised for its commitment to children?s spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, and for its provision for pupils with special needs.
The report said school governors fulfilled their responsibilities very well, and parents were very supportive. Management and leadership were highlighted as excellent, with the headteacher, deputy and senior managers receiving specific praise.
