Holman Cup

quarter-final

North Tawton 2

Wrey Arms 0

WITH Keith Steward and Ashley Arscott leading the attack, the visitors faced an onslaught on their goal.

It was no suprise when Arscott broke clear and slotted the ball home to make it 1-0.

Alan Grimshaw replaced Adrian Rice in goal due to injury and had a faultless performance.

The second half saw chance after chance go begging because of poor North Tawton finishing.

Keith Steward broke clear of the visiting defence and found himself crashing to the ground under a late challenge just inside the box. Ian King stepped up, and North Tawton saw yet another penalty saved!

Dean Rice made it two for Tawton with a lovely strike after Edward Hillier had seen his shot saved.

Man of the match: Lloyd Reynolds.

This Saturday, home to Wellington.

Jackson Vending Devon & Exeter Intermediate 4

North Tawton Res 3

Lapford 0

TAWTON had a relatively comfortable game, controlling all parts of the field. They put some good passes and moves together and created many chances of which one led to Tony Fisher hitting the crossbar.

On the half-hour Millie Quick scrambled in his first for Tawton.

Lapford tried to press but good defending from Alex Dreyton, Ian Simons, Neil Bragg ad Mike Keast made light work of it all.

On the 40th minute Quick came up with his second, scoring from 20 yards out.

In the second half there were no changes from Tawton, but still plenty of pressure.

On the hour Richard Keast went on a solo effort, running 25 yards into the box, tucking the ball around the keeper and sealing three points for Tawton to put them second in the league.

Man of the match: Chris Field.

Next match April 5, home to Sandford. All welcome.
