YELVERTON Golf Club ladies' section is gradually returning to its golfing routine, and is delighted to report that Laura Eastwood, aged 17, has begun the season well.
She has reduced her handicap from 4.4 to 3.9 and has been selected to train in the U18 England squad.
Laura was runner-up in the Devon County Ladies' Championships at Woodbury, where she won the gold scratch medal for the best 36 hole gross score.
She has been selected to play for Devon's first team, and Devon won the four counties — Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset — match this year, when Laura gained five and a half points out of 6 matches.
Caroline Theyer and Helen Harris, Ladies' captain, began their defence of the Willes Little Trophy on May 14 at Churston and won against Teignmouth 5 and 4.
Gilly Jarvis qualified seventh in the Devon County Ladies' Championships, losing the next round match play to Rosie Cirran, a previous county champion. Gilly was selected to play in the county's first team.
Four Yelverton lady 'vets' were selected to play in the Devon Ladies' 'Vets' county match against Cornwall on May 11 at Roserrow.
