A car that you hire and not own is the essence of the car club.
There when you need it, but with no bills to pay.
All tax, insurance and repairs are paid for with clients only paying for the hours they use the car and mileage.
The car club has been spearheaded by Transition Tavistock with support from the Town Council and hard work by Jeremy Farr from e-cocars.
'If you don't want the cost of car ownership but need a car for a few journeys a week or occasional trips why not find out if joining a car club would be the answer for you,' said Kate Royston from Transition Tavistock.
The first car arrives tomorrow at noon and will have a designated parking place in the Guildhall Car Park.
'We'd especially like to thanks Tavistock Town Council for their support in making this happen,' added Kate.
'We would like to make this so successful that we'll need a second car before the end of 2013.'
To join the car club go to http://www.e-cocars.com">www.e-cocars.com and sign up.
On joining you'll receive a smart card to open and operate the car and full instructions.
