Tavistock Ladies 1st XI 11 United Services 0 THE game opened with the opposition on the attack. The opposition looked as if they could have broken through but Fiona Dunn and Laura Stapleton made some strong tackles which resulted in the midfield collecting the ball and linking superbly with the forward play of Judy Miller and Jo Gaspar. Miller sat on the goal post and allowed the quick legs of Robynne Honey and Laura Armstrong to chase the ball and feed it into the ?D?. This resulted in Miller scoring two early goals lifting the team?s spirits. Babs Horton did some excellent shadow play and this resulted in the ball being passed back into the attacking half. The ball was intercepted by Armstrong who took the ball into the ?D? and made a clear strike on goal taking the score to 3-0. Honey worked well and chased every ball that was passed across and made some crosses into the ?D?. One of these strong crosses allowed Miller to connect with it and slot it into the goal making 4-0. Stapleton and Dunn pushed up the pitch allowing Emma White and Boulle to be more attacking through the midfield. This resulted in the forwards using these players to pass the ball back out of the ?D? and switch it across to a new player. Boulle worked this with Gaspar who scored an excellent goal. The score at half-time was 5-0. The second half saw United Services come out strong again. Goalkeeper Bex Creasy made some early calls which allowed the defensive play of Horton and Dunn to mark up players which potentially could have been a threat. Butler and Honey linked the ball up the pitch and Butler fed a lovely ball into the ?D? which Miller dribbled past the keeper with ease. At 6-0, Tavistock were working well as a team and White, Boulle and Stapleton were a real blockade that the opposition simply could not break through. The ball was sent again into the ?D? from a strong strike from Boulle and the forwards really battled to keep possession of the ball. The keeper deflected a shot but Honey was quick to pick the ball up and score her first goal of the match at 7-0. A short corner was awarded to Tavistock and Gaspar hit a hefty strike right past the keeper resulting in 8-0. All the forwards and midfield were surrounding the ?D? and the opposition could not clear the ball which was dangerous with so many Tavistock players heavy on the attack and hanging on the goal as was Miller who scored her fifth goal of the match. Armstrong switched the ball over to Honey who made a super cross into the ?D? allowing Armstrong to score her second goal of the match. With Honey creating so many goals it only seemed fitting that she scored the last goal of the match from a lovely strike down the side of the goal.
