THERE is just one day left for applicants to get their forms in, if they want to be considered for a new council body aimed at driving forward the modernisation of local government.

The council is looking for people to put their names forward to bring an independent voice to a new committee, being established under the Local Government Act 2000.

The new standards committee will promote and maintain high standards of conduct throughout borough, town and parish councils in West Devon.
