Bodmin Trophies Duchy division 3 cup

Lamerton 2

Callington 1

LAMERTON entertained local rivals in the divisional cup quarter-final in a game of remarkably good standard considering it was played in gale conditions.

They had the wind at their backs in the first half and, as a result, dominated possession but few chances were created.

The closest effort came when Tony Jones hit the back of the net, but the Callington keeper was deemed to have been impeded.

After the break Callington had the better of territorial play and after 20 minutes Lee Rider picked up a loose ball and rifled it past the unsighted Pete Daniel.

It looked as if the one goal would clinch the win but with a quarter of an hour left subs Paul Breyley and Dan O?Hare were brought on. Almost immediately O?Hare played Paul Cowling through down the right and he squared the ball back for Breyley to clip in.

With extra time looming, Breyley was put through the middle by Kev Swift and his clinical finish gave the visiting keeper no chance to complete a remarkable turn around.

This Saturday away to Tregony in the league, 2.30pm kick-off.
