AFTER a good win over St Blazey by a goal to nil, on the previous Tuesday evening, the team went into this tough game, full of confidence, against a team holding eighth place in the league.
The game proved to be a close encounter and it got off at a cracking pace with both teams playing some really attractive football.
The home team created the first clear cut chance to open the scoring. In the 13th minute a free kick from Martin Sullivan found Micheal Landricombe in the penalty area, but his powerful header from six yards went agonisingly wide of the target.
The visitors were then convinced they should have been awarded a penalty in the 20th minute when George Robinson went down under a challenge from Jamie Ahearn, but the referee deemed it to be a fair tackle and waved play on.
On the half hour, a great passing move between Mike Arscott, Micheal Landricombe, and his brother Levi, resulted in the latter shooting over.
Play continued from end to end with both teams testing out each others defences. It was providing a very entertaining game for the spectators.
In the 43rd minute the visitors should have taken the lead when a ball fell to Richard Hope who was unmarked in the penalty area, but his first time shot came back off the under-side of the bar and was cleared to safety. The game remained goal less at the interval.
The Lambs increased the tempo at the second half and put the visitors defence under more pressure, their efforts were justly rewarded in the 55 minute when Martyn Sullivan took a quick free kick from just outside the penalty area, his perfectly weighted pass found Levi Landricombe, who fired low into the corner of the visitors' net.
Ten minutes later it was 2-0 to the home side, when the visitor's keeper misjudged a well floated free kick from Ryan Honey, and caught the ball, after it had crossed the goal line.
The home side then virtually made the game safe in the 78th minute when a great pass from Dave Hallett set Levi Landricombe free, and he coolly placed the ball past the advancing keeper to make it 3-0.
The Lambs then seemed to take their foot off the gas. The Marines kept going to the end and in the first minute of stoppage time they opened their account, when O' Brian on the edge of the penalty area, saw his speculative shot loop over Andy Meeds into the net.
In the sixth minute of injury time Royal Marines scored their second goal when Lewis Coombes headed home from a corner. The referee blew the final whistle immediately after the restart.
This was another good performance by the Lambs, who deservedly came out on top in a very good game of football.
This win is another step to maintaining Premier League status, but the team must keep putting wins on the board to ensure this is the case.
n This Saturday the Lambs are at home to Dartmouth, kick-off 3pm, followed by a tough game away to Cullompton on Tuesday, April 5, ko 7.30pm

THE Lambs were two goals up inside the first quarter of the match, with Jarrod Kelly opening the scoring in the third minute. Soon it was two with Kevin Hatch cutting in from the left and firing an unstoppable shot past the home keeper.
Biscovey reduced the arrears just before the interval when some sloppy marking by the visitors allowed Mark Williams to score.
The second half saw the Lambs take complete control and Sam Shepherd followed up a great strike by Kelly to notch the third. Ben Langdon added a fourth when he headed home, with Kelly scoring a fifth for the visitors to complete the rout.
This was another fine performance by the young reserve team that keeps improving. This can only be good for the future of the club..
