Carlsberg South West Peninsula Premier Bodmin 0 Tavistock 1 THIS was a pulsating encounter between two committed teams who both gave no quarter. From the kick off the home team showed their intentions with a scything challenge from the ebullient Bunce. The opening 15 minutes was a frenetic affair with little time for dwelling on the ball. Bodmin adopted a route one approach but the visitors showed a steely resolve with Tavistock?s Arscott and Short dominating to such an extent that O?Hagen, the Bodmin striker, was hardly in the game and spent the second half marshalling his defence. In contrast Conday and Harvey for the Lambs were a constant threat holding up and linking intelligently. As the game settled it was Tavistock who dominated play prompted by Krac and the enigmatic Coxon. A sweeping move exposed the Bodmin back line but Harvey shot tamely when well placed. Tavistock were shading the possession and the chances and as the half drew to a close Conday went close with a snap volley. Bunce for Bodmin was yellow carded for a crude challenge. Tavistock felt the game was there for the taking and they were winning their personal battles. Again the home side came out at a high tempo but they had no variety of guile in their game. Conday for Tavistock was struggling with a strained hamstring which saw Glyn Hobbs pushed forward. The game followed the pattern of the first half and as the tempo dropped Tavistock took control. Coxon went close with a run and volley and he was a constant threat to the home team with his intelligent play and work rate. On the hour Tavistock lost Harvey, the result of an horrendous challenge near the touchline. The visitors eventually got the deserved reward for their play and scored what proved to be the winning goal when Stringer picked up a clever touch from Kinsman galloped forward before coolly side footing into the far corner. Tavistock had chances to kill the game but failed to push home their advantage and nearly paid the price as first goalkeeper Andy Meeds missed a long ball which bounced narrowly wide of his goal and then in the dying throes of the game produced a great save low down when faced one on one. At the final whistle the visitors were elated. Everyone played their part but Lee Coxon must be singled out for a quality performance. l Tavistock are at home to Torpoint on Saturday, November 10.
