Throgmorton cup Tavistock 7 Foxhole 0 THE salient talking point among the fans before kick off was which Tavistock team would turn up for this rearranged Throgmorton cup tie against Foxhole Stars. Ninety minutes later they had their answer as the visitors trudged back into the dressing room with heads bowed after a comprehensive 7 - 0 defeat. The heavy conditions were a great leveller and the visitors made life difficult for the Lambs competing strongly through a first half which was pretty even. Foxhole created one or two opportunities, however a lack of composure up front and a superb save from Andy Meeds kept the visitors out. For Tavistock, Shane Krac was the puppet master, pulling the strings from midfield and the home team opened the scoring when Mark Conday broke free and calmly rounded the keeper to score. Tavistock were happy to reach the sanctury of half time with an advantage. The home team came out for the second half firing on all cylinders and Mark Conday cleverly swivelled and fired home for his and Tavistock's second goal. With the cushion of a second goal one could sense the relief and relaxation spread through the team. The importance of confidence is not always understood but it is a vital factor in success. Foxhole had given so much in the first half and they now began to wilt being reduced to some crude challenges, particularly on Glyn Hobbs. Tavistock were now in rampant mood with players running off the ball creating options for some slick passing and goals came at regular intervals. Mark Conday was rewarded for his endeavour with another goal to complete his hat-trick and Ryan Honey uniquely scored a trio of penalties. Will Stringer chipped in with a goal to complete the rout. Individually Shane Krac had an excellent game in midfield and Mike Arscott added a touch of class at the heart of the defence. Glyn Hobbs weighed in with some wonderful touches but for many tended to over elaborate, playing more with his heart than his head. However football must always be about fun and entertainment and on a miserable wet and cold night it is those little moments of skill which linger in the memory. l On Saturday Tavistock entertain Launceston at Langsford Park and the Cornish visitors will be looking for revenge for defeat on Boxing Day.
