Falmouth Town 0

Tavistock 2

Tavistock produced another fine second half performance at Bickland Park to return home with all three points.

The early stages were evenly matched, with neither side producing any clear cut chances to open the scoring. Midway through the half Falmouth had their best spell of the game when Andy Meeds denied Adam Trudgian and a Paul Wolstencroft 30 yard free kick hit the visitors' crossbar. The visitors were in control for the remainder of the half.

The second half saw Tavistock dictate the game and apart from a scare when Chris Menhennick cleared a Dave Rawlins header off the goal-line, the Lambs dominated proceedings.

The deadlock was broken in the 60th minute when a ball was crossed into the home side's penalty area for Ryan Honey to score from 12 yards. The Lambs then laid siege to the Falmouth goal, and should have increased their lead.

With 15 minutes to go, the visitors introduced their new signing, the former Falmouth boss Andy Bowker, who immediately made an impact creating openings in the Falmouth defence. However, it was left to his strike partner Glynn Hobbs to notch the second goal six minutes from time to seal all three points for the visitors.

The Lambs move up to sixth in the table and with games in hand on the teams above them, they are in a strong position to launch a challenge for honours.

The club said it would really appreciate support during an exciting run to the end of the season in May.

l On Saturday the first team is at home to Newton Abbot Spurs, kick-off 3pm. The Reserves are away to Liskeard Athletic, kick-off 2.30pm.
