Duchy Premier

Lamerton 1

Launceston 3

LAUNCESTON finally claimed their first points of the season, with a convincing and battling performance against a below par Lamerton.

They caught Lamerton cold and went two goals up inside the first 20 minutes. Gavin Wallace and Reece Goodman both provided neat finishes, after some good counter attacking play from the away side.

Lamerton pressed and had more of the possession, but they rarely tested the Launceston keeper.

At 1-0 Rich Searle was fed inside the box at an angle and opted to shoot for an equaliser, but the keeper stood firm.

The second half started much the same as the first, with Launceston scoring early. This time it was a brilliant individual goal by Charlie Barnes.

Barnes, running at the Lamerton defence to good effect all game, jinked inside and out, beating two men to arrive at the edge of the penalty area and lash home an unstoppable finish into the far corner.

Lamerton continued to struggle and only found a goal ten minutes from time through a 25 yard scorcher from full back Steve Lake.

• Lamerton's next game is on Saturday (January 3) at home to Delabole in the Duchy cup, kick-off 2pm.
