AGAINST a powerful Plymouth side Okehampton were never outplayed and with a bit more luck this game could have been a bit closer. The Okehampton ladies again fought well and were never overshadowed by their illustrious visitors and both sides produced some entertaining football.
Kelly Cooper, making her first appearance of the season, added some experience up front and her continuous chasing and battling for the ball earned her the player of the match award. It is a shame she is not able to play on a more regular basis.
Once again the back four, strengthened by the presence of Miki Burdus, had the lions? share of the work but were still unlucky to go into the break 3-0 down.
The second half saw a resurgent Okes and with Abby Williams having a good game in the middle managed to reduce the deficit through a well taken strike from Michelle Vaughan.
Plymouth restored their three goal lead with a deflected long range free kick before Michelle Vaughan, who had an otherwise superb game, missed a penalty. The visitors applied a lot of pressure in the last twenty minutes but never really created too many clear chances and although they scored a fifth it was a scrambled effort near the end.
Miki and Sammy Burdus had their final game before going to University and their presence in defence will be sorely missed.
Next game is away to Isca Vikings. Squad should meet at 1pm.
Clare Tyson will be taking training for the next two Thursday nights at the club house in Simmons Park between 6.30 and 7.30. New players are welcome.
