YOUR excellent article on the Forgotten Army (April 29) could have mentioned a West Country hero at the battle of Kohima, Lance Corporal John Harman, Victoria Cross, of the Royal West Kent Regt, who was killed defending Kohima against a vastly superior Japanese force.
His father owned Lundy Island and there is a memorial stone to his memory in the old quarry on the east side of the Island, where John used to play as a boy.
