WHITCHURCH Ladies were in high spirits having achieved their first win of the season the week before. The home side Whitchurch lost the toss and were asked to bat, but lost three wickets quickly and the run rate was slow. However then Kirsty Gray came to the crease and quickly took control scoring a fine 70. Mel Leach batted steadily to score 24 not out and Ann Ruddock 10 not out,
Hatherleigh found it hard to score off Whitchurch's five bowlers — Jo Birkett 7-0-17-1, Cathy Griffin 7-3-7-1, Mel Leach 7-1-24-0, Ang Hunt 7-0-18-2 and Kirsty Gray 7-0-15-2. Hatherleigh played their 35 over but were short by 41 runs, to give Whitchurch their second win of the season.
