AN unprecedented music event will be staged in Tavistock at Kings in Pixon Lane next month featuring a headline band. On Thursday, July 7 is the launch show for Onlive Sounds, a new company presenting original music nationwide, and the whole evening is being recorded and filmed for future broadcast. International act The LoveGods ? voted ?Best Unsigned Band? by Radio 1 listeners in 2004 are the headliners. The LoveGods will be playing at Glastonbury a fortnight before the Kings concert and are currently putting the finishing touches to their first full album. Their live set has been described a ?kind of epic rock/grunge/blues with addictive melodies?. Special guest, playing an acoustic set, will be Seth Lakeman. After local, national and international recognition for his work with Rough trade act, Equation, Seth?s last solo album ?Kitty Jay? was nominated for two prestigious Radio 2 awards in 2004 and was voted ?best roots album? by Time Out magazine. The opening rock act for the evening will be announced shortly. Filming will be handled by Chilli Media, specialists in lifestyle programming for world-wide TV. Event organiser, Martin Griffin, said: ?It?s going to be a crazy evening, with four film cameras, twenty-four track sound recording and, at ten kilowatts, probably the most powerful PA system to ever visit Tavistock. ?We reckon it?s going to be a really special occasion. There is only a five hundred capacity at Kings, so our advice is to be prompt if you don?t want to miss out.? All proceeds from the evening go towards the ongoing Tavistock Music Live Campaign. This is a charity geared to promoting live performances and ultimately building a music centre in Tavistock for rehearsing, recording and editing. Tickets £5 on the door. Doors open at 8pm.
