Devon & Exeter Intermediate 1
Exeter Bohemians 4
Okehampton Argyle Seconds 1
IN the early exchanges Argyle looked to be in control and winning the midfield battles. Mark Burdus tested the keeper with two good efforts early on and Nick Pollard had a diving header just inches over the bar.
Nick Pollard came off with a groin strain and Paul Lucas came on for his debut and showed some good early touches .
Okehampton took the lead when Jerome Whatley pumped in a high cross only to see the home keeper fumble badly with the ball crossing over the line.
At the other end Neil Clift pulled off some spectacular keeping saving three-point blank at the feet of the home centre forward who could not beleive his miss.
In the last minutes of the first period Argyle failed to clear convincingly and the home striker lashed home with a low drive giving Clift little chance.
The second half saw the home side go up a gear and they seemed to have more belief in their ability to score. Clift only managed to get his fingertips to the ball allowing the home striker to tap it home on the line. Bohemians increased their lead with Argyle pushing forward letting them outpace their stretched defence with the home forward finishing coolly.
Okehampton missed half a dozen chances to turn the game around before surrendering the final goal with Steve Ausden getting caught in possession. The striker finished superbly into the top corner.
As with the previous week Argyle dominated for long periods and must learn to kill off the opposition. They will have to improve this week for the home visit of Thorverton, 3pm kick-off at Simmons Park.
