LEAGUE football gets underway in Okehampton this Saturday after a six-week absence.
Local matches in the Jackson Vending Devon and Exeter League were postponed because of the foot and mouth crisis.
But following enquiries Okehampton Argyle has been given the go-ahead to restart games.
They kick-off at Simmons Park this Saturday at 3pm in the Premier League against Budleigh Salterton — ironically, the team Argyle last played when they went down to a 1-0 away defeat on February 24.
But Argyle's local rivals Hatherleigh have cancelled all remaining league games for their two teams due to the crisis.
The club, currently lying sixth in the premier league, said in a statement: 'We are a community football club and as such it is our responsibility to support the people of Hatherleigh throughout the crisis.
'We have worked hard to sustain our premier league position and it is disappointing to have to withdraw. However, the agricultural industry is vital to the town's economy and must take precedence.'
Other teams cancelling their league games include Halwill, Witheridge Seconds and Northlew.
The league committee is to review promotion and relegation issues at the end of the season.
But games going ahead in the Intermediate 1 division on Saturday include Okehampton Argyle's second team, who are at home to Westexe Rovers, and South Zeal, who travel to play Axmouth Utd.
