East Cornwall Palladium division one Polperro 0 Bere Alston United 0 BERE Alston continued their improved form with a hard fought point away to a well organised Polperro side that had beaten league leaders Tavistock last week. Bere started brightly and having dominated the opening 20 minutes were unlucky not to go in front when a volley from Dan Follett was superbly saved by Polperro keeper Barrie Collings. Bere continued to have the upper hand and should really have led by half time, but to their credit Polperro came out and got more into the game in the second half. Midway through the half, Bere were fortunate to see a long range strike from Polperro rebound off the crossbar and in the closing minutes James Crawford could have won the game for Bere but was also denied by the woodwork. Both teams in the end were happy to settle for a draw and Bere manager Kevin Taylor was pleased with a second consecutive clean sheet and the way his lads had dug in collectively as a team in the later stages to earn the point that maintains their push for promotion. Bere Alston man of the match:  Ian Collacott.     l This Saturday Bere Alston United are at home to Nanpean, kick off 2.30pm.
