Kelly College U14 XV 27
Devonport High School for Boys U14 XV 26
KELLY'S worry at the start was that they had only brought one substitute. The kick off went badly and they nervously gave the ball away in the rucks to clever mauling by the opposition.
The first score went to DHS and Kelly College found themselves down for the first time in the season. A wonderful move by Sam Twaites followed, taking on the blindside to go over for a good forward's try. DHS scored again, making use of great pace by their winger. A near exact match by Harry Wyatt evened the score to 12-12 at half-time.
After half time, Kelly piled on the pressure with Alex Dinner putting his head down to drive over the line. A great run by Harry Wyatt, taking his personal points total to 25 for the season led to a try in the left corner.
Kelly relaxed and DHS went over and converted to make the score 19-22 in Kelly's favour. Kelly could not regain their momentum, which led to DHS going over and converting to lead 26-22.
The dying minutes saw a penalty awarded on DHS's 22 and Kelly passed through about five phases of rugby, never allowing the ball to die and eventually going over to score and win the game on the whistle.
