Kelly College 1st XV 29

Queen's College, Taunton 1st XV 3

KELLY rounded off their 15-a-side season in some style with a resounding victory against Queen's College.

The first 15 minutes of intense pressure failed to yield a try as Alex Edwards went close on the left and Andrew Barwick spilled the ball over the line. Eventually, Kelly stole a Queen's scrummage on the their 22-metre line; the ball was moved swiftly through the hands and Edwards raced home for the opening score.

Five minutes later, scrum half Ed May darted through a gap in the Taunton defence for Kelly's second try. Mark Slee slotted the conversion and suddenly Kelly had stretched to a 12-0 lead.

With Queen's under pressure in the scrums and lineouts, the Kelly back row roamed at will, causing havoc whenever the ball was moved wide. Mark Slee rounded off a fine first half performance with a try and conversion.

In the second half, Kelly made seven changes as the boys who had been selected to play for Devon the following day were rested. However, Mark Galliford rounded off an excellent move for a try and Edwards claimed his second as the ball popped out of a Queen's scrum five metres from their line.

When the referee blew for the end of the game, it gave Kelly their eleventh victory from 15 matches and set the seal on a fine season.
