Students and staff at Kelly College were also celebrating A-level results as the school achieved a 98.5% pass rate.

Rhys Byrne has secured his place to read medicine at the University of Bristol, by gaining four A grades in his A-levels — mathematics, geography, biology and chemistry. Rhys not only achieved first class A-level results but he also embraced the extra-curricular, sporting, cultural and creative activities. Rhys has also contributed significantly to the Kelly community as monitor and Head of House.

George Newman has achieved straight A grades in physics, chemistry, mathematics and further mathematics gaining him a place at Durham University to read natural sciences.

Music scholar Sophie Wilson has achieved three grade As at A-level — music, English literature and religious studies — and she will read music at the University of Bristol. Sophie has had two successful years in the Devon Youth Orchestra, and has also been offered a place in the South West Youth Orchestra as clarinettist.

Hannah Paull also gained straight A grades in English Literature, French, and Spanish and will be studying at the University of Manchester for a degree in Italian and Spanish.

Charlotte Ellicott gained three grade As at A-level (Mathematics, Economics and Business, and Geography) and will be going to Durham University to read Geography. Charlotte has also achieved grade 8 in LAMDA Public Speaking, has been deputy head chorister, played second XI hockey and second VII netball as well as fully participating in many of the theatrical performances at Kelly.

Kelly is also celebrating the success of students who have taken the BTEC National Diploma in Sport (Performance and Excellence) qualifications and all have gained their places at university.

Headmaster Dr Graham Hawley said: 'I am absolutely delighted for all our students — they have worked tremendously hard and they have earned these results. Our outstanding team of teachers will be pleased that all their hard work and commitment to the students has been rewarded — a huge achievement for a school that does not have a selective intake.'
