IT'S third time lucky for the tiny village of Kelly in getting a lottery grant to mark the millennium.
Kelly Village Hall Committee has been given a £4,500 'Awards for All' grant after twice being turned down by the Millennium Commission.
The money will be used to produce a photographic record of the parishes of Kelly and Bradstone, and to put an engraved 300-million year-old boulder in a wildflower woodland glade.
Committee chairman Ray Brewer said: 'We're quite elated. This grant allows us to fulfil the desire of the recent parish appraisal.'
Several activities took place in preparation for the project and involved many parishioners. Events included a 20th century memorabilia evening, an open garden weekend at Coombe, a barbecue in Meadwell and a memorable beating the bounds walk organised by Ken Northey involving 136 people.
The photographic exhibition should be ready by September, and although work has started on the wildflower woodland glade, it has been suspended because of the foot and mouth outbreak.
