THE first round of the U 18s National Schools Hockey took place at Brickfields.
The Kelly team took a while to warm up to the fast-paced game, and Plymouth College managed to score two goals in the first 10 minutes. Kelly secured a short-corner shortly before half time and with an excellent strike finished off by Amy Osborne it was 2-1.
The Kelly team came back and instantly started with a goal. This kept the confidence high and led to another, again scored from a short-corner. This led to a much frustrated Plymouth side leading a series of strong attacks in which the Kelly defence fought tirelessly managing to prevent several shots on goal, with some great saves from goalkeeper, Cat Bell.
Both teams were left battling it out until the very last minute. Kelly managed to pip in one last goal by Laura Siggelow which secured the victory. Special mention must go to Stephanie Hole for her strong defending.
Kelly now go through to represent Plymouth in the next round.
