TWELVE Kelly College athletes took part in the English Schools Cross-country county championships at Great Torrington, North Devon earlier this month.

The weather was perfect, but the ground was very challenging.

A proper cross-country course with deep, wet, mud, sticky, holding mud, and plenty of hills and camber to test even the hardiest of runners.

After walking the course, the Kelly athletes was already looking as though they had run the race. But no one was worried about what lay ahead, having worked and trained on the hills around their college all winter.

All the races were exciting and gave the spectators plenty to watch. Kelly College came away with, potentially, five runners having qualified to wear a Devon vest at the next round, the South West championshipss, at Truro this Saturday.

The year seven boys race produced the best race of the day with Jordan Channon the overall winner, Harry Dunlop in sixth place and Josh Boon in tenth. Ellen Riis White was seventh in the intermediate girls race, and Christian Brown 11th in the inter boys.
