IT may have been the blistering heat that saw such a lack-luster first half in this first round encounter, where the only good chance came for the visitors. Lamerton failed to track a runner from midfield and he picked up the ball inside the area to shoot on goal.

Pete Daniel made an excellent double save to deny a certain goal. The match hung on an unfortunate moment in the second half, when the Marjons keeper came out of his area and diving to palm the ball away with his hand. The referee had no option but to send him off. To rub salt into the Marjons' wound, Nathan Blamey planted the resulting free kick into the corner of the net.

Marjons did fight on and went close a couple of times, but Lamerton always looked like scoring again and did so via James Steers shot from the edge of the box.
