LOOK out for an Okehampton face in this week's London marathon. Lisa Dufty, 25, will be attempting the run for the first time. She said: 'I've been training seriously for it for six months — and I've had quite a few injuries to deal with.' Lisa will be running the race alone, but will be cheered on by her partner and friends, and her mother and brother from Northlew, who are all travelling up to London with her. Lisa will be raising funds for the charity Action Medical Research, which has been making medical breakthroughs for more than 50 years, including helping develop the UK polio vaccine, ultrasound scanning in pregnancy, and the hip replacement operation. She has had to raise £1,500 to qualify as one of the charity's runners, but hopes to raise even more. 'My employers, Lloyds TSB, have helped a lot, but I'm still looking for other sponsors,' she said. To sponsor Lisa, please call or text her on 07870 255736, with your name, address and sponsorship offer — and look out for her on television!
