Okehampton Ladies seconds 4

Callington Ladies 0

OKEHAMPTON Ladies' second team travelled to HMS Raleigh at Torpoint on Sunday to play their league fixture against Callington Ladies.

Oke began in attacking mood with forwards Sophie Cunnington and Kim Davey piling on the pressure.

Oke soon capitalised on this penetrating play when captain Sarah Jones took a well placed free hit just outside the Callington circle. The ball was controlled by winger Katie Graves who skilfully hit the ball on her reverse stick to score Oke's first goal.

Despite having the majority of the possession Oke could not increase their lead before half time.

The second half saw Oke stepping up their game. Halves Rachel Laidlaw and Nat Dennis supplied the Oke forwards with good quality ball.

Oke's relentless attacking play was rewarded when Sarah Jones struck the ball at a penalty corner and Hannah Whiteley deflected it into the back of the Callington net. Minutes later Kim Davey's shot from another penalty corner thundered into the goal.

Callington tried to counter-attack but their efforts were thwarted by strong tackling from full back Amanda Sim and interceptions by Sophie Whiteley.

The Oke team's strong performance was rewarded by a final goal when Sarah Jones converted another penalty corner.

Okehampton's man of the match went to Katy Graves.
