A WEST Devon woman will be facing the challenge of a lifetime when she takes part in this year?s Flora London Marathon on April 17 as part of the 500-strong Asthma UK team. Kate Myott, 41, of Chillaton, will be helping to raise a staggering £450,000 to improve the health and well being of the 5.2 million people with asthma in the UK. ?This is my first London Marathon and it is a real challenge for me? said Kate, who hopes to raise £2,000 from the venture. ?Having friends and family with asthma, I know how it affects people. The fundraising is really important to me, as I know I am helping others to take control of their asthma and by doing so reducing the effect that it has on their lives?. Fundraisers hope that the money raised from the London Marathon will fund further research into the causes of asthma, a disease which affects one in 12 people in the UK.
