A CHAGFORD teenager will be undertaking a freefall parachute jump from two miles high this weekend to raise funds for charity. Kat Malseed, who is a sixth form student at Okehampton College, will be doing the jump for the Alzheimer's Society. Kat, 16, has to raise a minimum of £400 to take part, and with fundraising going well, she should be on target to reach that figure. Kat will be undertaking a tandem jump this Saturday (November 25). After leaping from the plane, she will experience freefall for 30 seconds and then glide for about five minutes before reaching solid ground. She said: 'I am getting quite nervous now. I've never done this before, but I have trained for Ten Tors, done the Duke of Edinburgh award, and I like sailing, so hopefully that will help prepare me for this challenge.'
