I AM writing to let you know that I am puzzled as to why it has become necessary to build an assault course on the road between Grenofen and Whitchurch.
Whilst I am among the first to accept the need for the military to exercise in the area, to choose such a site seems strange.
The first version of the assault course was soon worn away by confused road users, but the new construction is of sturdier build, and reminds one of the coastal defences erected by the Germans on the north coast of France during the second world war.
I hope that one day my use of this road may coincide with a detachment of Royal Marine Commandos at full stretch, so that I may watch in admiration.
When not in use by the military, might it not be possible to re-open the road for normal traffic, by returning it to its previously unimproved condition?
